FYI there is a marketing meeting Monday, March 31 at 2PM at LCS. BJ/Elena can you find out the dates of the upcoming arts shows?
Anne is to meet with Melody Peterson about loose ends of this past Artful Codgers Show.
Tia Stephanie tours, can they be translated into Spanish?
Stephanie has also offered to translate at our monthly member’s meeting, yay.
Jefe, if you need help, perhaps she can be called upon?
Jefe went on Tia Stephanie’s tour to Jocotepec Serape weavers, with 8-10 other attendees. He reported it was very interesting! In the future, other than create our own tours for our members, we can connect with tour groups. T hey have the minutiae all figured out and we can just pay and go! We are hoping to create and maintain solid connections with our members, and keeping them interested in these extras is a great way to do this.
Welcome Elena to the Board, replacing BJ as Art Market Coordinator. BJ, Elena and Anne to meet about debriefing. Vonn will work with Elena to instruct use of the iPad. And Ilene Hass is here to be part of the marketing committee, at some time when she has more time.
Membership: Barbara said we have 139 members, paid. 8 new in March. Many just want to join to sell at our art markets.
Barbara also mentioned the possibility of ALC organizing mini-photography trips, similar to those carried out in the past by the former Shutterbugs group, for ALC members who wish to schedule a few hours taking photos, and later sharing them on our Facebook page. Maybe Claudia will want to incorporate this? Perhapsphotos can be taken by participants of the up-coming Art Tour, organized by Victor Alcazar, and later posted on the Facebook page to test the photography and posting interest of our members.
Financial: Gretchen reported we did have a small gain from March’s art market and now have $65K pesos in reserve.
And what about donating to the 3 art LCS programs? The Peter Shandera fund for art students? Nancy to get contact information for his widow Vicki and for Bethany Putnam for Anne to contact them.

Art Market: BJ reported we had last minute artist/crafts people show up for space and didn’t have time to vet them for self made sales items. We decided to call “original art” our main description. Barbara will do an email blast for the April show, including this info. Maybe we need a set-aside spot at GoD for those who drop in at the shows to wait until all those paid artist/crafts folk arrive and get their booth spaces?
Publicity: Jefe said banners have been delivered to GoD with markers. And had an idea to incorporate short videos of our artist for our FB page.
Volunteers: Vonn has created a volunteer worksheet on the website. We are working on a press kit page too. And…we are still wanting to have each artist have a page on our website.
Ad-hoc Committee
There is an ad hoc committee thinking about a show with Victor at the cultural center in Riberas, and Philippa is to post this.

Para su información, hay una reunión de marketing el lunes 31 de marzo a las 2 p. m. en LCS. BJ/Elena, ¿podrían averiguar las fechas de las próximas exposiciones artísticas?
Anne se reunirá con Melody Peterson para hablar sobre los asuntos pendientes de la pasada Exposición de los Vejez Artísticos.
¿Se pueden traducir las visitas guiadas de Tía Stephanie al español?
Stephanie también se ha ofrecido a traducir en nuestra reunión mensual de miembros. ¡Genial!
Jefe, si necesita ayuda, ¿quizás podamos contactarla?
Jefe acompañó la visita guiada de Tía Stephanie a los tejedores de sarapes de Jocotepec con otros 8 o 10 asistentes. ¡Dijo que fue muy interesante! En el futuro, además de crear nuestras propias visitas guiadas para nuestros miembros, podremos conectar con grupos de turistas. Ellos tienen todos los detalles resueltos y podemos pagar e ir. Esperamos crear y mantener conexiones sólidas con nuestros miembros, y mantenerlos interesados en estos extras es una excelente manera de lograrlo.
Bienvenida Elena a la Junta Directiva, quien reemplaza a BJ como Coordinadora del Mercado de Arte. BJ, Elena y Anne se reunirán para una sesión informativa. Vonn trabajará con Elena para enseñarle a usar el iPad. Ilene Hass está aquí para formar parte del comité de marketing, cuando tenga más tiempo.
Membresía: Barbara comentó que tenemos 139 miembros de pago. 8 nuevos en marzo. Muchos solo quieren unirse para vender en nuestros mercados de arte.
Barbara también mencionó la posibilidad de que ALC organice mini-viajes fotográficos, similares a los que realizaba anteriormente el antiguo grupo Shutterbugs, para los miembros de ALC que deseen dedicar unas horas a tomar fotos y compartirlas después en nuestra página de Facebook. ¿Quizás Claudia quiera incorporar esto? Quizás los participantes del próximo Tour de Arte, organizado por Víctor Alcázar, puedan tomar fotos y publicarlas posteriormente en la página de Facebook para evaluar el interés de nuestros miembros en la fotografía y las publicaciones.
Finanzas: Gretchen informó que tuvimos una pequeña ganancia en el mercado de arte de marzo y ahora tenemos $65,000 pesos en reserva.
¿Y qué hay de las donaciones a los tres programas de arte de LCS? ¿Al fondo Peter Shandera para estudiantes de arte? Nancy necesita la información de contacto de su viuda, Vicki, y de Bethany Putnam para que Anne se ponga en contacto con ellos.

Mercado de Arte: BJ informó que artistas/artesanos se presentaron a última hora para solicitar un espacio y no tuvimos tiempo de evaluarlos para ver si tenían artículos de venta hechos a mano. Decidimos usar "arte original" como descripción principal. Barbara enviará un correo electrónico masivo para la feria de abril, incluyendo esta información. ¿Quizás necesitemos un espacio reservado en GoD para quienes asistan a las ferias y esperen hasta que lleguen todos los artistas/artesanos pagados y consigan sus puestos?
Publicidad: Jefe dijo que se entregaron pancartas a GoD con marcadores. Y tuve la idea de incorporar videos cortos de nuestro artista para nuestra página de FB.
Voluntarios: Vonn ha creado una hoja de trabajo para voluntarios en el sitio web. También estamos trabajando en una página de dossier de prensa. Y… seguimos queriendo que cada artista tenga una página en nuestro sitio web.
Comité Ad Hoc
Hay un comité ad hoc que está considerando una exposición con Víctor en el centro cultural de Riberas, y Philippa se encargará de publicarla.
